The Calliope Hummingbird seems to have been unfazed by temperatures in the
20's and continues to be feeding at the flowers in the yard near Easton.
The home owners have seen it each day since the first discovery. The bird
is pretty feisty, and is now dominating other species that try to make use
of the garden. Two Phoebes were under attack a few days ago, perhaps
because they were competing for some of the small insects that the Calliope
is also including in its diet. One day even a Mockingbird was driven away
by the little bird.

Anyhow - the bird is still here, and visiting conditions are still
available, by appointment only, and normally limited to afternoon hours
during which time the bird is more reliably present.
