I want to thank the guys who spotted the Le Conte's Sparrow this morning
(around 8:30 ) and who let me view it in a spotting scope. The bird was
located near a cluster of tall cornstalks along the road near the overgrown
pond/marshy area. It perched and preened for several minutes, thankfully. I
admire anyone who can spot it among the multitude of Song and Savannah
Sparrows that lurk in the brush and cattails.

This was my first trip to Swan Harbor Farm, and I didn't realize how wet it
would be. I definitely recommend waterproof footwear, which I was not
wearing. To see the bird today, we had to stand in several inches of water
and mud. We flushed an American Bittern while looking at sparrows, so two
life birds made up for two wet feet! A very dark immature Bald Eagle glided
by, too.

On the way home, I stopped at the Perryville Community Park. There were very
few waterfowl: three distant swans, about 40-50 coots, three male
Buffleheads, and two Pied-Billed Grebes, whose faces still showed some
stripes. An immature Bald Eagle was perched in a tree, and on the way home,
I saw an adult Red-shouldered Hawk along Route 7.
