I stopped by Oakley St Sunday and scanned the Choptank for newly-arrived
wintering waterfowl. Observed 2 Common L.oon diving in the channel, and one
DC Cormorant on the wing, as were a small flock of Canada Geese the Talbot
County side. We're still having October weather even though it is almost
December... no reason for the ducks to hurry.

Cambridge didn't host the large numbers of ducks of various species last
winter as in previous years. Canvasback, Lesser Scaup and Scoters were the
birds of the season, with mallards, a few Am. wigeon, buffles, ruddies, and
common goldeneyes. Never saw redheads there last year- maybe one will
winter with us this year.

Should be soon.
