I also picked up this type of malware a few months ago (not from Steve).
McAfee did not recognize it. Microsoft Security Essentials, which I
downloaded free, did remove it. However there was still some work to do to
restore the computer to full working order again.

Subject: Re: [MDOSPREY] Nasty Virus on MDOSPREY

I picked up one of those malware viruses about 6 months ago and my Trend
Micro security
could not clear it. In fact, it did not even recognize I had a problem.

My internet and email comes from Verizon. For some reason I called their
tech support
line. For a fee (naturally ... I think it was about $60) they provide a
year long service that provides support for
just this type of problem. Rajalin took remote control of my PC and
burrowed down to take
out the Malware. All of this was accomplished in less than an hour. This
was the 2nd time
I had gotten infected. The first time required a trip to the local PC shop
and cost about $100
to clear.

Nasty stuff.

ps: Yesterday, I found around 200 Tundra Swans in a field by Ruthsburg.
They were only about 100 feet from the road
so it was wonderful to be able to hear them 'talking' to each other. I
scanned the field and 100 yards
behind them sat 2 Bald Eagles which lead me to wonder if they were having
swan for breakfast.
