Hi Everyone,

I hate to be stuck in the office after such a powerful cold front barrels through the area.  Luckily, these winds tend to blow things around, and I was remined of this while walking to the post office this afternoon

Right as I left the office, I looked up and saw a large formation of white waterfowl flying overhead.  I raced back in, and asked a co-worker to borrow his bins.  I waited for the elevator and burst out of the office, only to be greeted by beautiful, blue, empty skies.  I scanned around, but saw nothing.  As I came to realization that I had missed what could have been Tundra Swans or Snow Geese, something white caught my eye again in the northwest sky.  Raising the bins, I prayed they were not Tundra Swans (got them back in April).  To my amazement - the birding Gods allowed 2 white goose-like birds with black primaries to fly over - Snow Geese!

Up until now, it had been a long three and a half weeks with no new DC year birds; so to get the Dickcissel and Snow Geese this week was quite unexpected.  Tonight I'm going out to see if I can get a Screech-Owl if 2 year birds in December isn't too much to ask...

Good Birding!
