Afternoon all,
I stepped out of my shop for some air at about 3 this afternoon and stood along the fence in front to take a look there. I heard then saw a Pileated Woodpecker perched about halfway up one of the Bradford Pears that line our drive. I slowly raised my bins for a look, and saw as she held fast to the limb, stuck out her head and grabbed a fruit. She contnued as I watched, fascinated. Never seen one eating Bradford Pears before, and so close!

And as I left my shop for the evening, I again peeked around the same corner of my shop and watched a Cooper's Hawk fly out from another of our Bradford Pears and fly across the front yard, at near dusk.
