Portions of Deal Island WMA Temporarily Closed to Waterfowl Hunting
Princess Anne, Md. (December 16, 2011) ─ The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has temporarily closed select areas within the Deal Island Wildlife Management Area(WMA) to waterfowl hunting due to the illegal distribution of waterfowl bait. This includes the area known as the “Dump Marsh.”

Small grains found in the area serve as a potential lure and attractant to wild waterfowl. These areas will remain closed to hunters until law enforcement personnel confirm compliance with regulations governing the hunting of wild waterfowl.

The "Dump Marsh" is located west of Riley Roberts Road, to the town of Chance and south of MD Route 363. Signs announcing this closure have been posted at the known access points to this marsh.

For more information call 410-543-8223, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
