I had heard about the gentleman in Centreville that raised Bobwhite Quail 
for release and had a few as pets.  This afternoon I met him at the 
Centreville Library.
He had his pet quail with him and when I walked in, one of the librarians 
was stroking the quail's head.  I was introduced and learned some neat 
things about his hobby.
The quail he had with him was 3, 333 days old.  During the night, the quail 
sleeps on his shoulder, the right one.  So far this quail had laid 401 eggs.
He had another bird that died at 4 1/2 years old that had laid 923 eggs.  He 
said that he marked and counted each one.


He has been raising quail for years and is well known in Centreville.  He 
left the library before I did.  About 5 minutes later, I ventured out and he 
was standing on the grass
with the quail at his feet.  He said that the quail tells him when it needs 
to go to the bathroom.  I stood and chatted a couple more minutes and the 
quail just walked around
his feet pecking at the grass.
