Yesterday before I went to work I saw this bird, but it was not in this location.  There were no birds around the pound net fishing stakes directly in front of the site.  The Barrow's was still in same general area, but was farther to the north, about 3/4 mile to 1 mile.  Best view was from the northern-most section of beach area at the site (just walk north as far as you can go), but the bird was still about 1/2 mile north from there.  Still, a nice view with 60x in scope.  It was easy to find, foraging with the large group of Common Goldeneyes and Buffleheads in vicinity of another set of pound net stakes.  Look first for teh large group, but note there were several small groups of Goldeneyes at various places, so if you don't find it easily, a close look at all the ducks will hopefully do it.

Note- there were sea/bay duck hunters nearby, in a camo-finished boat.  They were anchored about a mile to the south of the site, in no way close enough to be a threat to safety.  However, I mention it since the boat was very close to shore (no way to know for sure from my vantage, but appeared to be no more than ~ 300 yards from shore), which I think may be illegal.  Unless their regs have changed, DNR hunting regs require sea duck boat blinds to be minimum of 800 yards from shore.

It was not clear whether this site is open to birding at this time of year - it appears as if it is closed but I assumed the trails were still open for hiking or birdwatching if you park at the public area at end of road (hunter area etc.) - is this right?

For what it's worth, I tried for the Sedge Wren that was at Cornfield Harbor, I think it may have moved.  Should have gone a week ago!
