Shireen/Everyone,

While I certainly appreciate the good intentions, I feel there should be a "statute of limitations" on "rescuing" a bird. It seems to me that a bird that has survived over five years in a location, including some of our harshest winters, does not need rescuing. This is now a wild bird with a territory and routine, and I can't imagine it would do any better in a cage than the Fish Crows that accompany it. This seems like a very different scenario from a recently escaped parrot or cockatiel. This bird has already lived most of a wild raven's lifespan in southeastern Baltimore, and I can't see a reason to capture a successful bird that is neither starving nor at risk of causing harm to the local ecosystem. I hope this doesn't turn into a heated debate. I am very supportive of wildlife ehabilitation, have a friend and neighbor who rehabilitates birds, and have rescued a number of birds myself. I suggest we leave this bird in the world to which its already
 adapted.

Thanks!

Bill

Before i call him back, i need to gather more information about the bird from others who have seen it. Please email me directly with any comments. Also, can someone confirm this is the Shoppers at 5722 Ritchie Hwy, Brooklyn Pk.? I'm not familiar with that area since i live in Towson, but that seems to be the only Shoppers on Rt. 2 near the stadium.

>> Becky and I are enjoying close-up studies of the Pied Crow (raven!) in Baltimore right now. It's feeding in the Shoppers and Hollywood Video parking lot on Route 2. It seems to specialize in ripping open paper fast food bags. Tons of photos. (And no, not "countable", but who cares! Awesome bird!) Happy Holidays!
