Hi all,
Mark Wimer, Alli Sussman and I covered part of the south tract of Patuxent for the Bowie CBC. We had 42 or 43 species for the day, best birds being 4 Bald Eagles, 3 Winter Wrens (nice views of them), 2 Gadwall along with many many Ring-necked Ducks, Mallards and loads of Canada Geese. Also had 3 or 4 Hermit Thrushes, several Golden-crowned Kinglets, YB Sapsucker, Pileated WP, Downy, RB and N Flickers, along with a few Swamp Sparrows, White-throats, Song, a few Fields, but not much else in the sparrow dept. Rather quiet for field species, and we saw not a single Cardinal! No snipe this year either, in what was very promising looking habitat, and not a single raptor other than the eagles.

On our way home, as we were near the traffic circle in Lisbon on Woodbine Rd., a small flock of Canada Geese flew over heading west, with a single Snow Goose mixed in. Nice!
