I need some suggestions to help me with the Audubon Bird a Day challenge.  (The challenge if you don't know is to see or hear a different bird each day).   So I live in the Twinbrook part of Rockville and work downtown in the Penn quarter area.   These days it is dark both in the mornings when I leave and when I get home.   I take metro so I am overground most of the time and I also have an interior office with no windows.  So lunch time (1 hour) is my best time to find birds down on the Mall.   Does anyone have suggestions about where to look and what I might find down there?  Or there other places within a relatively short distance that might be good?

What I have discovered so far that are regulars:
Capitol Reflecting Pool---ring billed gulls, rock doves, mallards, starlings,
National Botantical Gardens--robin, mockingbird, song sparrow, cardinals

Obviously, crows and house sparrows are everywhere.

(If anyone is wondering the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial is completely torn up).

Thanks very much,

Matt
