My understanding was that you could walk on the private drive, or is that discouraged too?

That was only a suggestion from one of the posters, but it hasn't been vetted by anyone who has talked to the property owners.  My worry is that a large volume of traffic will put this site off limits.  I measured the distance from my house this morning - 4.5 miles.  As a local i have enjoyed this pond as a place to go once or twice during the winter to observe waterfowl.  It is one of the few places to easily do that in central MD.  What i fear is that a large influx of people coming to view the Ross's will overwhelm the welcome mat that has been extended unofficially and us "locals" will be out of luck, while the people who caused the site to be lost will be able to substitute any number of places that are readily available on the piedmont and eastern shore.  The Ross's has lately been observed in the fields bordering the pond and from the shoulder area of MD 17 north of the pond that i recommended previously.

Again i have no idea how this will format when i hit SEND.  If it's unreadable, i will try again..
