Folks
Spring Peepers have been singing down here in Charles Co. Sadly it is not
spring though.

"Is it spring?" After seeing a cherry tree blooming in Bethesda, I've
been wondering the same thing. Yesterday Mr. Pileated was drumming on a
dead tree near my house (a very different sound from the usual
food-seeking whacks), and today he showed up at the suet feeder closely
accompanied by Mrs. Pileated. More drumming ensued. Isn't this a little
early for courtship?
