I arrived at the lake immediately after Jay and Marcy, but lost them as I was getting my gear out of the car. By the time that I reached the platform overlook I did not know where they had gone. Doing all of my observations from above the lake on the hillside, I had similar numbers of most species except for the shorebirds as I didn't get down to the flats (not knowing the trails here) and only saw some of the birds that I assume that they flushed on their travels. Although I only had 5 Killdeer I suspected that more were around but couldn't see them from my vantage point and I did not see the snipe.

My observations about the weather differed in that there was a high, thin, broken cloud layer due to the approaching storm system. I verified this through the historical METAR reports for nearby Fort Meade airport. The only other major differences that I had were my missing the Green-winged Teal, but I did find the Blue-winged teal that flew over the lake about 15 minutes after I arrived (and I had suspected may have been flushed by Marcy and Jay) and settled in the middle not far from the beaver lodges. It later came out into view in some open water to the right of the lodges and was feeding with a group of Mallards. I saw two Black Ducks fly in and land towards the back side of the lake shortly before I left and they did not appear to be intergrades. I did not notice the intergrade reported by Marcy and Jay.

7 Wilson's Snipe - Wilson's Snipe are common at Oxbow Lake. With all the mud at the lake, there probably are a lot more than we saw.
