I was so cold even though I was bundled up but just couldn't get myself to go in until
nature called. :)

Lots of the birds ate pine nuts, little fruit from Bradford pear trees and of course sunflower seeds and suet I put out for them.

Woodpeckers were everywhere and the sapsuckers made holes in my 11year old oak tree which several species enjoyed sipping from.

I got within the width of my driveway to the cedar waxwings and enjoyed watching them feed. I was within twenty feet of the sapsuckers several times.

To top my backyard outing, one dear bluejay deposited his "business" on my camera lens.

Usually I average 20-25 species so yesterday was a really good day. I believe the possibility of nasty weather brought in the extra species and higher numbers

Within two hours this morning there were 25 species on my list with red wing blackbirds up to 45 and cedar waxwings up to 110 plus. They sat in the trees across the road and I just could not find a yellow headed black bird no matter how hard I tried.

Happy Birding to All
