We were weathered out this past weekend and will try again on 2/4.  Only a few spots remain, as most moved their reservation from the cancelled trip.  Call soon!!

SPECIAL ANNOUCMENT: MARYLAND PELAGIC TRIP

WHY:  Last winter we did very well the the large alcids in near shore waters - including a state record count of 14 Common Murres on 2/26/11.  We are going after them again!!  Good numbers of Dovekies, Common Murres and Razorbills are being seen not far offshore just to our north, and the Captain sent me a photo of a Dovekie he saw just 10 miles out the other day!!

WHAT:  Nearshore (20-40 miles offshore) pelagic in Maryland ONLY waters, on the 55’ Morning Star, with Captain Monty Hawkins, veteran captain of pelagics off Maryland.

WHEN: February 4, 2012.  11.5-hour trip.  Leave 5 am, return 4:30 pm. Be at dock by 4:45 am. No weather date.

COST :  $120 per person (payable to Morning Star) plus $10 to Mark Hoffman for mate tip and chum (payable by cash or check day of to Mark Hoffman).  Max head count 21, plus co-leaders Hafner and Lutmerding.

HOW:  Phone Morning Star reservation desk at 410-520-2076 with credit card info; you will also need to provide cell phone number to Morning Star reservation desk so you can be contacted in case we know Friday the trip is a no-go for Saturday.   I will set up an email list also.

WHERE: Morningstar is docked at the West Ocean City Fishing Center .  Turn right at last light before bridge into Ocean City . Take left into parking area and fishing center. The Morning Star is by the Travel Lift, Dock B, Slip 2.   The GPS address is “13001 Inlet Isle Lane, Ocean City, MD, 21842”.

Calm seas,
Mark Hoffman
