A mid morning visit to a snowy Lilypons today, the highlight was a COMMON
REDPOLL - typically highly mobile and vocal, I saw it (assuming one bird!) in 3
different places, including near the car park (behind the porta potty).
Amazingly, an hour later I saw another at the Clagett Center - I think this
latter bird may have been at feeders around the residential homes to the north
of the center. I'm assuming these were two birds, but who knows?! I located
both by the distinctive call - one I'm very familiar with having spend most of
my birding life in Britain, where redpolls are more common.

Other highlights were.

Lilypons:
1 Marsh Wren
8 Hooded Mergansers
18 Black Ducks
1 Herring Gull - first cycle, flew N with RBGUs.
4 Ring-billed Gulls

Brunswick:
2 American Wigeon on river

Kershner's Pond:
1 Canvasback
4 Lesser Scaup
47 Tundra Swans
3 Bonaparte's Gulls

Found 3 flocks of Horned Larks totalling well over 300 birds, but didn't manage
to find any longspurs or buntings. Three gull species in Frederick county in
one day is a first for me - Herring Gulls are surprisingly scarce here
