On Monday 3/05, Jeff Culler and I visited several locations in Somerset
County.
Most of the day we had thick, heavy snow that greatly reduced our
visability. Around 3:30 p.m. we briefly saw the sun.
Along Deal Island Rd at Jerusalem Rd we had a flock of Wild Turkeys. We saw
them two more times later in the day. This was a county close-out for me.
We had another flock of Wild Turkeys at Hudson Corner Rd & Burnettsville
Rd, Marion Station.
At Riley Roberts Rd there were two Tricolored Herons but the White Ibis and
American White Pelican were absent. Large numbers of ducks are still
present. The Peregrine Falcons were on the hack tower off Messick Rd.
By 10:20 a.m. we arrived at Rumbly Point. Near the end of the road we were
watching a flock of Greater Yellowlegs when two Long-billed dowitchers
dropped in. Large numbers of Dunlin and Boat-tailed Grackles were also in
the area.

Not much in Worcester County in the snow. We did stop at Castaway's on
Eagle's Nest Rd. When asking for permission to bird there, we did
congratulate them on the award thet received from MOS at the MOS Ocean City
Convention for allowing access to birders on their property. Shorebird
numbers were very low here with only 1 American Oystercatcher, 2
Black-bellied Plovers, and a distant flock of Dunlin.
