FOS Chipping Sparrow - Jug Bay

Today at our house, I had the first migrant Chipping Sparrow of the season.  I am fairly confident re: it being a north bound migrant, but you never know.  All the winter Chippies I see here are in winter plumage, very skittish, and typically ground feeders.  I've never seen one here in winter at a feeder, except on occasion the ground below a feeder.

That is why I am fairly certain, since every year I count the first migrant here as the first one that shows up at our feeders (which not coincidentally, is always at the same feeding station).  The breeders here (at our house) feed regularly during teh season at our feeders, and they always arrive here in full breeding plumage.

Today's date beats my old FOS Chippie by a huge measure - 11 days!
