As always the first migrant warbler of the year here in Carroll County
is the Pine Warbler. This afternoon I saw one singing male at Piney Run
Park. I also heard a Brown Creeper nearby and saw one Double-crested
Cormorant on the lake, my second earliest ever in Carroll. Of greater note
I found an adult Bald Eagle on a nest, a first for the park. It is in a
location not easily accessible by foot but easily seen from the east side
of the lake off the Martz Road trail that runs south along the lake. When
the park opens in a few weeks it will be seen by anyone in a boat in that
area.
