Although total diversity was on the low side, it was a beautiful weather to be out biridng. I saw an interesting mix of winter birds and early migrants today at Governor's Bridge Natural Area. I also saw more waterfowl than I normally do here including a pair of Ring-necked Ducks, a pair of Hooded Mergansers, a pair of Black Ducks, 2 pairs of Wood Ducks, and a Pied-billed Grebe. Other highlights included Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Winter Wren, Pileated Woodpecker, E. Phoebe (2), Tree Swallow (4-5), and Barred Owl. There were 3 Red-shouldered Hawks (2 ad., 1 imm.) making quite a ruckus, interacting, and doing some cool acrobatics. Also saw a few Red-tail Hawks, including one lightly marked individual. A number of turtles were out sunning themselves, I saw several Cabbage Whites and the first Orange Sulphur of the year. I've posted a few photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/64973768@N03/
