I headed over to Tilghman Island this afternoon in search of horned grebes and gannets. While viewing the sand bar at Knapp’s Narrows from Back Creek Park at around 1:30, an American oystercatcher flew in and landed. No other birds were around. When I checked back at about 4:00, the oystercatcher was still there with 2 killdeer, 2 g. yellowlegs and several laughing gulls. There were 100’s of horned grebes at Blackwalnut Point (I counted 80 in Blackwalnut cove and there were many more out on the bay) along with a large raft of surf scoters, scaup and small numbers of long-tailed ducks. I later found 2 gannets at Claiborne but none at Black Walnut.
