I too was amazed at the number of singing hermit thrushes this morning at Gov. Bridge, I heard at least 3 and there was likely more.  It was pretty eerie hearing them call repeatedly through the fog!

I would like to express caution in the reporting of Wood Thrushes right
now. It's quite early for them to be in Maryland, and indeed, in most of
the United States. For a map of validated Wood Thrushes for the current
year, check out this eBird map: *http://tinyurl.com/7v64fzp

*Wood Thrushes usually don't arrive in Maryland until around mid-April, so
any report earlier than that should be documented if possible. As it so
happens, I was at Governor Bridge this morning and was thrilled to hear at
least four Hermit Thrushes singing, some from the tops of trees! Hermit
Thrushes can sound similar to Wood Thrushes and it's not a sound we
Marylanders get to hear often, especially on the coastal plain. These birds
don't commonly sing on the wintering grounds. It was quite a treat!
