I had a good morning at Swan Creen/Cox Creek.
Highlights: (Out of 51 species):
Great Egret: 1 mitigated wetland
American Wigeon: 1 south cell
Lesser Scaup: over 200, but the haze stopped me from counting any more
Scaup sp: 100+ in the haze and glare
Ruddy Duck: 200+, but a good count was ruined by the haze
Bufflehead: 5 north cell
Virginia Rail: 1 mitigated wetland
American Coot: 22 old wetland
Wilson's Snipe: 6+ new and old wetland
Bald Eagle: 1 third year, near the beach
Osprey: 4
Northern Harrier: 2 over the old wetland
Red-shouldered Hawk: 1 probable migrant, headed NW
Cooper's Hawk: 2
Cedar Waxwing: 2 off of the trail to the wetlands
BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER: 1 in a gum canopy
Tree Swallow: 4 old wetland
N. ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW: 1 old wetland
Golden-crowned Kinglet: 1 with Titmice, wetland trail
Brown Thrasher: 1 very vocal
LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH: 1 Not an easy bird in N. AACO
Eastern Towhee: 4
Song Sparrow: 8
Swamp Sparrow: 5 mitigated wetland
White-throated Sparrow: 8
Junco: 1 with Titmice, wetland trail
American Goldfinch: 2 singing
Also:
Swallowtail sp.: 1
Falcate Orangetip: 4 along the path from the office to the beach in disparate areas
Cabbage White: 2
Orange Sulphur: 2
