Ft. Totten, DC: Warblers

Hi Everyone,

I had the opportunity to make a quick run over to Fort Totten Park in NE DC.  In spite of the late hour, there was a lot of bird activity. Highlights included at least 12 NORTHERN FLICKERs moving about in loose flocks. I heard a trill-like song and assumed it came from Chipping sparrows, but instead I was treated to a singing male PINE WARBLER.  Finally, in the distance I saw what seemed to be a pair of warblers flitting about in some flowering oak trees, but they flew off before I could make an ID.  I decided to take a chance and chase them and was treated to a pair of yellow PALM WARBLERS - with one in the mood to sing!

Towards the north end of the park I wanted to see if the RED-TAILED HAWK I thought might have nested last year were back on a nest. While I couldn't locate a nest, I found two Red-tails - one soaring low and another flushed from the canopy.  Hopefully, someone else will have better luck locating the nest if I can't.
