During my lunchtime walk around Schoolhouse Pond, I found two Blue-winged Teal (a male and female) at the rear of the pond in the emerging vegetation. Also present were two Green-winged Teal, which have been around for a week or so. Other birds of note included two Wood Ducks, a lone Double-crested Cormorant, two adult flyover Bald Eagles, numerous Tree Swallows, and an Eastern Phoebe. This morning, a Ruddy Duck was present, but it appeared to have departed by lunchtime. Wilson Snipe continue on the mudflats at the rear of the pond in good numbers. And, the resident Barred Owl made itself known with several rounds of raucous hooting yesterday (3-21) at lunch, so I know that he is still around as well.
