Hi all,

Finally got out for a breezy, but nice morning walk on the C&O canal at Violette's Lock.  Highlights were:

1 Red breasted Merganser (hen)

7 Bonapartes' Gulls flying upriver
50 or so Buffleheads
8-10 Scaup sp.  (ducks were back lit)

20+ Tree Swallows
1 Barn Swallow
2 Northern Rough wing Swallows
2 Blue-winged Teal
   Horned Grebes, many becoming colorful.
2 Pied billed Grebes
1 Barred Owl
1 Louisiana Waterthrush
5-6 Yellow rumped Warblers (some in breeding plumage)
2 Double crested Cormorants
Chickadees, Titmice, Red-bellied Woodpecker in vicinity
