Hi Evereybody: John Hubbell and I spent most of our day birding in Baltimore County today. Below is a synopsis of our highlights:

SOUTHWEST AREA PARK
We heard 1 Ring-necked Pheasant but failed to turn up the Vesper Sparrow and American Bittern previously reported. Three Rough-winged Swallows were seen.

FORT HOWARD
Cattle Egret (1) seen in a field with cattle before reaching the park entrance
Red-breasted Merganser (9)
Bonaparte's Gull (25)
Horned Grebe (16)

NORTH POINT ST. PARK
Common Loon (2)
Red-throated Loon (1)
NORTHERN GANNET (1) for sure, possibly two seen off and on for about 20 minutes beginning 12:30 pm flying, circling, diving and sitting on the water

Bonaparte's Gull (26)
Pied-billed Grebe (2) chasing each other around and actually flying short distances; also heard calling
VIRGINIA RAIL (5) all were heard, none were seen
Ruby-crowned Kinglet (2)
Golden-crowned Kinglet (1)
Brown Creeper (1)
Pine Warbler (4)

ROBERT E. LEE PARK
Red-headed Woodpecker (1) most probably the one seen in immature plumage several months ago and now in full adult plumage

PATAPSCO VALLEY ST. PARK - GRANITE AREA
Ruby-crowned Kinglet (1)
Brown Creeper (1)

PATAPSCO VALLEY ST. PARK - McKeldin Area (CARROLL COUNTY)
