Weather:
Overcast with some fog in the morning, clearing in the afternoon; 47-61
degrees; fair visibility becoming good; winds mostly with a southwesterly
component, 0-7 mph.

Raptor Observations:
First Broad-winged Hawks of the season with the first arriving at 11:42
dayliight time.  Twelve raptor species. There was actually a 13th, a south-
bound Peregrine Falcon.

Non-raptor Observations: Bill Hubick spied 3 Northern Gannets, a Laughing
Gull and carefully counted 114 Bonaparte's Gulls; he also observed flocks
of 32 Horned Grebes (39 total) and 16 Common Loons (22 total).  One Great
Egret and about 14 Northern Rough-winged Swallows.  Upon leaving the
Park, Bill heard a Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher and after a short search, we found
a traveling group of 5 individuals and also heard a Winter Wren. ========================================================================

Site Description:
Fort Smallwood Park is located on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay at
the mouth of the Patapsco River, 11 miles south of Baltimore, MD. Best
winds are from the southwest. The Park is closed to visitors on Wednesdays.
