Hi --

Barry and I saw about a dozen Chimney Swifts at Back River yesterday while doing our Bonaparte's gull count. FOS for us. Unfortunately they were about the only thing of interest -- the number of Bonaparte's Gulls was down to about 550 (from 1200 on Thursday) and no Little Gulls or other species of note save a lone Laughing Gull. We did see a few Barn and No. Rough-wings among the many Tree Swallows, also a few Purple Martins at the Cox Pt. marina's martin house. About 6 Bald Eagles, two interacting (talon-grabbing) as well as a very healthy number of Osprey.

Hi All,

While not the first report of Chimney Swifts of the season in DC (that honor goes to Wayne B.), my wife and I were lucky enough to see a lone "scout" flying over the mall around 7pm.

Good birding!
