This morning, I took a page from the Jim Stasz playbook and attempted to get a Kent County Northern Gannet while viewing from Ferry Point Park in Queen Anne's County. This tactic not only saves you the hour's drive to Rock Hall, but also keeps the sun at your back. Of course, it also has the disadvantage of placing you in the wrong county and needing your bird to be fairly distant. Visibility was good this morning. I could easily read the letters on the Rock Hall water tower scoping at 30-40x.

In two hours, I saw at least 2 gannets and possibly as many as 4, all adults. The initial sightings appeared to be within QA County, but finally one bird took off and flew hard to the northeast before settling down on the water in front of the westernmost tip of Kent County just west of Rock Hall.

Other birds seen near Ferry Point during the bay watch included 2 Forster's Terns, 3 Barn Swallows, a Greater Yellowlegs, and a Wilson's Snipe.
