Protocol: Traveling
0.5 mile(s)
Comments: Conditions: 81°F, Clear, Wind: S at 9 mph, Humidity: 32%. New
arrivals included Spotted Sandpiper, Hermit Thrush, and Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.
Also observed two Eastern Ratsnake coiled together in the sun near the beaver
lodge. The female was large (long and thick), while the male was very small
(thin). Completely black except for a white chin. The body is slender and the
head is wedge-shaped. Talked to a family taking a walk and showed them Wilson's
Snipe, Green-winged Teal, Lesser Yellowlegs, and a Red-winged Blackbird. The
snipe, teal, yellowlegs, and sandpipers are all feed amonst each other and are
easily seen along the edges of the peninsula.
