I spent the day on our back deck doing some work on my laptop, and was
treated to first of year Scarlet Tanager and American Redstart in the wet
woods behind the house. Also present were Yellow-rumped Warblers,
gnatcatchers, and a pair of phoebes. Woodpeckers were also very active
today: Flicker, Red-Bellied, Downy, Hairy. An immature eagle cruised
overhead. And a tree frog was just starting up with several bars of its
cranky song. We're not sure if we have Gray or Cope's or both. Also heard
one Wood Frog and lots of Spring Peepers.
