Took a walk this early evening at Swan Harbor and besides at least 4 AMERICAN BITTERNS, also heard a LEAST BITTERN, in the marshy impoundment, not far from the blind. Also heard a RAIL briefly, and I'm not sure whether it was a King or Virginiaonly hard the whinny laugh. Lots of SWAMP SPARROWS and SAVANNAH SPARROWS, 2 BARN SWALLOWS and lots of TREE and NORTHERN ROUGH WINGED SWALLOWS. A pair of NORHERN SHOVELERS was a nice surprise. The new impoundments held only a pair of MALLARDS and a KILLDEER, and a BROWN THRASHER at woods edge. A NORTHERN HARRIER was a nice end to the birding day.
