Hi all --

Cool, overcast and breezy did not make for the best birding conditions but nevertheless, a couple of "firsts of year" and an usual species for this site -- saw two GRAY CATBIRDS in WRP, one was singing, as well as a singing HOUSE WREN -- both FOS. Also, a SAVANNAH SPARROW, not a rare bird by any means but unusual for this site -- it was foraging on the grass near the carousel. Saw with some dismay the park folks have cut down the huge dying oak near the Shorefield picnic area that last year hosted multiple Olive-sided FCs -- still some snags about but none as enticing. Other than that, pretty much the expected. Good to see the Barn Swallows back at the Gude Gardens. Too much noise at the Nature Center for me or birds -- do they really need to use a leaf-blower to move about 100 dry leaves about?
