The regular Thursday morning birding group consisting of Gerry
Hawkins, Helen Patton, Sally Wechsler, Lou Demouy and I birded along
the close-in (to the Beltway) part of the C&O Canal towpath this morning, 4/19.

Highlights were 2 COMMON RAVEN at Carderock Recreation area, a GREEN
HERON in the canal, an early GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER along the Berma
Road just up from Old Angler's Inn and a FOY singing SCARLET TANAGER
at the same location. Warblers seen and heard included LOUISIANA
WATERTHRUSH, YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER, and NORTHERN PARULA, in
addition to Yellow-rumps.

When having lunch at the nearby shopping center in Potomac, we had a
couple of CHIMNEY SWIFTs overhead.
