Oxbow Lake - recent sightings

Following are a couple recent reports from Oxbow Lake.

Comments:     Jay Sheppard's report. Conditions: 43-44 F, W 10-15 mph, heavy 
overcast with brief periods of thin clouds.  6 deer feeding on far north shore, 
2 muskrats sleeping on log in middle of lake, no turtles on any logs.  After the 
rain we received over the weekend, the lake is up ~3-4 inches-- if it gets any 
higher, several geese nests could be in serious jeopardy of being flooded and 
eggs killed.

Comments:     Jay Sheppard's report while catch-and-release bass fishing in the 
Little Patuxent River starting at Brock Bridge (on Brock Bridge Road). The 
Little Patuxent forms the western boundary of the Little Patuxent Oxbow Lake 
Nature Preserve and the Russett Community. Conditions: Sky mostly clear, air 
78-80, SW wind 5-10 mph. Looked for but did not find any kingfisher nest holes 
or swallow nest holes either.
