Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from April 13, 2012
This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
The summary of bird observations that follows was taken by permission
from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and MD Port Administration, April
2012, Fauna Monitoring Report for the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration
Project at Poplar Island.
Highlights included continued presence of Turkey Vultures, Blue-winged
Teal, 17 Snipe and over 1100 Dunlin. Also to be noted was the arrival of
Glossy Ibis. 20 were reported over St.Michaels on the 14th and 25 at
Pickering Creek on the 15th.
