Hi Everyone,

I am forwarding this note that was posted to the Delaware Birding listserver by Anthony Gonzon. If you click on the link below, you'll see that the DE Breeding Bird Atlas is recording data from border blocks that include parts of MD. 2012 is the final year of the DE BBA, so if you live or bird near any of the blocks that still need coverage, you might want to get in touch with Anthony to help out. Mike Walsh and I are working on some of the blocks in Wicomico and Worcester, but additional observations would definitely be welcome!

Have fun,

Ron Gutberlet

Subject: [de-birds] Delaware Breeding Bird Atlas update

Hi all,

I wanted to let the Delaware birding community know that we have just updated an atlas block map showing those Breeding Bird Atlas blocks that still need bird surveys. We are already seeing many birds starting to nest and breeding activity is increasing every day! Will this be the year we confirm Bobolink, Short-eared Owl or Blue-winged Teal? Finding a rare nesting species is always exciting! How about confirming American Robin or Common Grackle in every block? As I was reminded this week, information about our common species today is very important in keeping them common before we find ourselves saying "Remember when...".

The map can be found at www.dosbirds.org/debba

Atlas blocks in red and orange will be the primary focus in Year 5 of the BBA. Whether you are currently participating in the atlas or are considering it for this year, we ask that you check out this map to see those areas that need the most help. Please contact me off-list if you would be interested in helping in any of these areas and indicate the block number so we can coordinate with other atlasers.

You can also reply to for more information about the BBA! I am sure there are plenty of great birds yet to be found!

**Also, if you are interested in learning more about the atlas, please drop by the DuPont Nature Center at Mispillion Harbor this Sunday between 12 and 3 PM for our atlas workshop. Please RSVP if you would like to join us!**

Good birding,

Ant
