I contacted Tim Storch, the observer, and he sent me photos which can be viewed if you go to the following links:

Unfortunately, he said that he didn't see them when he was in the area on Friday but that doesn't necessarily mean that they're gone. Lots of suitable areas for a large group of pelicans to hang out and feed.
