I was at Lake Waterford this morning about 7:30 and saw the ANHINGA preening on a tree trunk that was down in the water on the north side of the lake. Then the bird spread out his wings and kept that pose for a long while. I headed into the woods and when I returned seom 30 minutes later, the bird had flown to the south side of the lake and was perched next to a tree trunk - much harder to see than my earlier view.

I tried calling a few people who might be able to post but that didn't seem to work out. If the anhinga stays through the night, it might be there on that downed tree in the morning. Of course, I have no expertise in the matter.

There were also BALTIMORE ORIOLES, BARN SWALLOWS and one BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERON in the lake.
