After opening the day with a yard Mourning Warbler, I closed it with a Dunlin at Waverly Pond in Howard County. This species is only observed about every other year in Howard County, averaged over the last 34 years. The bird was in transition between juvenile and breeding plumage, showing some black spotting on the belly and some rufous in the upperparts. Waverly Pond is an eBird Hotspot located on Rte 99 about a mile east of Marriottsville Road.
