This is about where Jeffs post watch ended and mine started . When i arrived the bird had just flown off . So somewhere around 130 . Jeff and Amy left and about 15 min. later i spotted the Anhinga soaring about 50ft above the trees at the very back end of the lake. Yelled out bird was coming in for anyone who could hear me . It circled around a few seconds then looked to have landed on the back side of the trees on the  right side at the far end of the lake . . So i had a seat and did a watch for the bird to stir up again and possibly come out in view. I was joined by Jim Nelson for a bit . Jim left and Tom and Wendy Crowe came. .  I didnt look at time of showing but id say about 230 Tom spotted the Anhinga on large white tree snag at the far end of the lake. Looked like it had just crawled up from the water as it was shaking itself off and drying out wings. At this time many birders were coming in from all directions and all got views of the bird .
Oooos sss and  AAAaAAssss . Then everyone spread out . I took a potshot pic with my point and shoot camera and checked the pic and looked around the lake and looked back at Anhinga spot and it had disappeared.Could not relocate so  I left as the rain finally started . Ok Burger King receipt say 355 so i left around 330 .
Nice to meet many birders today . Good luck to anyone still trying .
Oh i was here yesterday on my own little birdwalk and never knew anything about a Anhinga . Im just glad i didnt spot it and try to run home and tell everybody .
Woooohooo Maryland  life bird !!!! thanks

Amy and I arrived at the parking lot at the east end of Lake Waterford at about 12:45pm. We walked west through the woods until we spotted a trail to the lake and then headed to the water's edge. Amy immediately spotted the Anhinga along the northern edge in a tree that had bent over into the lake. After 7 minutes the bird flew to a higher perch in a dead tree slightly farther east and across from the second wood walkway along the lake. It really blended in at this second perch. After 10 minutes at 1:20pm the bird flew east again and we could not see it land. While we were there it circled back around one last time about 15 minutes later and again landed out of sight. I posted a couple photos of the Anhinga at each of the two perches to our Flickr page here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeffamy/Thanks.
