Good Morning!
The MD 2012 Comprehensive List has been updated through April and (as usual) is posted on Bill Hubick's web site.  According to my tally, MD birders added 56 species in the month of April to bring the cumulative 2012 count to 300 species!  In April alone, we tallied 257 species as wintering species gave way to spring migrants and summer residents as the month progressed.  As expected, chaseable rarities were relatively sparse in April with the elusive Ruff at Jackson Landing, Potomac River Franklin's gull, and several sedge wren sightings serving as the likely exceptions.  April was also the first month in 2012 without a sighting of the long-lasting Picking Creek Virginia's warbler (departing in mid-March) and the Assateague lark sparrow (March 30).  The influx of migrants certainly made April an exciting month, however.

Here is the direct link to the Comp List: http://www.billhubick.com/docs/MD_Comp_List_2012.pdf.  Please let me know if you see any mistakes or missing records.  As usual, if you observe a species that is sensitive or on private property and are hesitant to post to Osprey or e-bird, let me know and I'll include them in the list with only limited location information.

Cheers,

Dave
