Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from April 25, 2012
This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
The summary of bird observations that follows was taken by permission
from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and MD Port Administration, April
2012, Fauna Monitoring Report for the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration
Project at Poplar Island.
The census further attests to northward movement of
transients. Most notable are the number of species, i.e., 6-herons,
8-waterfowl, 13-shorebirds, 5-terns, and 2 warblers.
