Around 7:00 this morning (5/10) I opened my front door to listen for warblers. The first sound I heard was a soft 'woop' call. Looking up I found a preening Yellow-crowned Heron perched in our walnut tree. An odd yard bird to say the least. Also saw a few warblers-Ovenbird, Black-throated Blue and redstart- and had a nice look at a male Scarlet Tanager.
