I had a probable Alder Flycatcher today at Harford Glen--but it was only one clear song, but it was perfect. Still, given that it was an alder, I wouldn't count it myself. I wanted to hear it one more time... and of course I wanted to see it. Unfortunately, I was unable to go after it; too much in the way. But it was across from the pier a ways back, in the open scrubby stuff/trees along the marsh.

A nice warbler day for Harford Glen--Ruth Bergstrom leading the birders and doing a count. Around 15 warbler species. A big day for Canada Warbler--5-6 at the Glen. And many Northern Waterthrush, inclding one caught in a banding net that we got a great view of. Oh, and several Blackburnian--best thing was that several of the Blackburnian were performing full, clear songs--but nearly impossible to see high up with the leaves.

I got word that Lynn Davidson found an ALDER FLYCATCHER at GB Point, so I thought I'd leave early for today's wedding that I am about to play for and stroll around the point (dressed in full wedding attire). A few odd looks from the hikers were to be expected.

I heard one, very brief call, near where the old Barn Owl box is, just off the West Road, near the marsh. Never saw the bird and it didn't vocalize again. That said, I am not really comfortable stating that it was in fact an Alder Fly... but it sure could've been... ;)

To be expected: Lots of yb chats, indigo buntings and blue grosbeaks, but the biggest surprise were 8 LONG-TAILED DUCKS (also sharply dressed) just off the point in the bay.

One lingering White-throated Sparrow missed his flight and was still enjoying the brush.

Good Birding,
