Hi Again,

Sorry, I should have just put this in the same email... I also birded Druid Hill (in the zoo and surrounding grounds) today. I had an extraordinary sighting (or hearing). But more on that in a sec. Here is the list.

Canada Goose 5
Northern Bobwhite*** 1
Red-shouldered Hawk 1
Ring-billed Gull 15
Herring Gull 15
Great Black-backed Gull 1
Laughing Gull 1
Mourning Dove 5
Red-eyed Vireo 2
Blue Jay 3
Barn Swallow 2
Veery 1
Northern Parula 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler 1
Black-throated Blue Warbler 3
Black-throated Green Warbler 2
Pine Warbler 1
American Redstart 2
Ovenbird 1
Common Grackle 2

So, the NORTHERN BOBWHITE was feeding inside the zoo. I don't think it can be heard from outside, but it is possible. There is an area where they keep "extra" exhibit birds (the ones that can't be on because of breeding requirements) just beyond the main entrance. This area IS an exhibit but it is not maintained very heavily and they tend to let the grasses and shrubs go. There was one male singing. It sounded like from the very middle of the exhibit. And no, the zoo does not keep Bobwhites anymore, so it isn't a captive bird. Responded to my imitative whistles.

Good Birding!
