Reached a modest, but nonetheless satisfying, milestone in my county listing: 2,000 total MD ticks. The lucky bird was a singing Prairie Warbler in PG County at Governor Bridge Natural Area on Friday morning. Overall, the Gov had a nice selection of breeding and migrating warblers as well as other passerines, and the mist on the ponds at sunrise was gorgeous. # 2,001 was a lingering American Coot on the upper impoundment.
Maybe a male Western Tanager will bring me one tick closer to the next goal of 2,300??
Also had FOY Common Nighthawk over my house this afternoon, a new yard bird! Was beginning to think these guys just didn't like my new 'hood.
